Richmond Multisports seeks Business Development & Operations Coordinator

Event management firm Richmond Multisports (RMS) is looking for a business development and operations coordinator. This position is key to the future growth and success of the company. It requires a very detail oriented, driven, task master and leader. It would also be ‘very helpful if you are a triathlete or runner and have experience with RMS races.’

Other added values would be centred around knowledge of running/triathlon, social media and local networking skills. Integrity is key – with attention on prioritizing and communicating well with others. This is a full time position, not necessarily 9-5, with 8 working weekends in a calendar year.

RMS is primed for a growth spurt, and the person hired in this position will be a valuable player in the business – with future potential to become a race director as well as reap other added benefits.

Business Development & Operations Coordinator

I. Outdoor Race Weekend Production

  • Management of equipment setup & tear down
  • Management of all tents & sponsor’s needs, banners, tables
  • Trailer organization and stock
  • Place equipment orders & analyze quantities
  • Lead RMS production team on site, set expectations, goals, execute RMS mission
  • Assign and execute task checklist to team
  • Coordinate deliveries with vendors and sponsors
  • Lead setup of packet pick-up tents and tables

II. Website/Registration Skills

  • Update RMS web pages
  • Upload and remove sponsor logos
  • Manage edits on registration
  • Coordinate with local training organizations on web content
  • Organize and email registration data to timers
  • Collaborative help with refunds, transfers and deferrals with online registration company
  • Work with graphic designer on race logo changes
  • Analyze registration statistics, running & triathlon industry
  • Communicate with each event’s volunteer coordinator

III. Equipment/Storage

  • Manage inventory control
  • Handle trailer & truck maintenance
  • Need to be fit and be able to lift 50 lbs

IV. Communications

  • Team communications leader
  • Organize and email pre-ride/swim/run schedules
  • Update race web calendars
  • Oversee marketing distribution
  • Collaborative help as an athlete liaison
  • Contribute to RMS newsletters
  • Confident with working with police, venue contacts and people in general

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Richmond Multisports (RMS) is an event management and production company, with Laurie Mehler, its President/Owner, having 11 years of experience as a race director.
