Billed as having ‘cutting-edge technology – race-proven performance’, ROKA notes that it built the Viper from the ground up and leveraged the experience of its team of elite swimmers to deliver a top-end swimskin product.
As with ROKA’s recently introduced Maverick Pro wetsuit, the company notes that it has put everything it knows and loves into the Viper swimskin… ‘We focused on every detail, from the world’s fastest materials and hi-tech, bonded seam panel construction to low profile zippers and hidden stitch reinforcement.’
ROKA believes that these details add up to ‘free speed on race day’. Targeted at athletes who have a non-wetsuit race on their calendar, ROKA Sports’ Viper Swimskin comes in two options: Viper Pro and Viper Elite.
Viper Pro Swimskin – MSRP US$299.00
The Viper Pro swimskin uses two varieties of the same premium stretch-woven textile from Italy, a hydrophobic Teflon coating, high-tech bonded seam construction with novel hidden stitch reinforcement. The rear low profile auto-locking YKK zipper and a pattern orientation and layout are strategically designed to liberate the swimmer’s arms while providing support where it is needed.
ROKA uses flat seams at the leg opening to avoid ‘sausage legs’ that can be created by elastic bands with silicone grippers.
The Viper Pro comes with atomic yellow graphics for men and magenta graphics for women.
Viper Elite Swimskin – MSRP US$199.00
The Viper Elite swimskin is again USAT and WTC legal and contains the exact same design features of the Viper Pro and differs only in fabric: instead of a premium stretch woven material, ROKA uses a premium knit fabric from a leading Italian manufacturer.
According to ROKA, this is ‘the exact same fabric used in competitors’ top of the line suits that cost US$100 more.’ This fabric is lightweight, has a hydrophobic Teflon coating and compression and support. Like the Viper Pro, the Viper Elite has the same high performance bonded seam construction and hidden stitch reinforcement.
ROKA uses the same folded seam at the leg as with the Viper Pro, to prevent ‘sausage legs’. The Viper Elite also has the same low profile zipper tape and autolocking YKK zipper slider as the Viper Pro. It comes with atomic red graphics for both men and women.
