Pearl Izumi – the Shimano owned leading manufacturer of run, bike and triathlon apparel and shoes – has confirmed that rising star triathlete Drew Scott has signed a one year contract as a sponsored athlete. This will be Drew’s debut season as a professional triathlete.
As the son of six-time Ironman World Champion Dave Scott, 22-year old Drew already boasts an impressive stat sheet with only two years of amateur racing under his belt. In 2012 he placed first overall at Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs and captured amateur wins at Ironman 70.3 Boulder, Boulder Peak and Rev3 Anderson. He placed second overall at the USA Triathlon (USAT) Olympic Distance Nationals and was named Top Male Amateur of the Year by USA Triathlon.
The addition of Drew Scott helps to further the expansion of the Pearl Izumi Tri Team. In April it was confirmed that Jesse Thomas and Angela Naeth have signed on for an additional three years as Pearl Izumi sponsored athletes. In addition, Pearl Izumi has signed Magali Tisseyre for a two-year contract, and re-signed Flora Duffy and Tim DeBoom for the 2013 season.

A full-time student studying political science at Colorado University in Boulder, Drew spent his first two collegiate years skiing for Montana State University before deciding to move back to Boulder, attend CU and race triathlon full time.
CU’s triathlon team welcomed him with open arms and has since enjoyed the talent, success and spirit he has brought to an already stellar program. The CU Triathlon Team has won three consecutive national titles since 2010 and aims to snag one more this coming season.
Based in Louisville, Colorado, a suburb of Boulder, Pearl Izumi is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shimano American Corporation, located in Irvine, California.
