Sponsorship focus as Competitor Group names Bill Pedigo as Chief Revenue Officer

Competitor Group Inc (CGI), the leading active lifestyle sports media and event entertainment company, has appointed Bill Pedigo to the company’s senior management team as Chief Revenue Officer. Pedigo will spearhead CGI’s sales and sponsorship division effective immediately, reporting directly to CEO Scott Dickey.

“Bill brings tremendous experience and perspective from multiple sports and entertainment ventures to our senior executive team,” said Scott Dickey. “He has a keen understanding of how every aspect of the sales process works from corporate sponsorship to advertising to custom content programs.”

“Combining our collective sales efforts under one proven leader will be instrumental in further engaging our partners and leveraging growth opportunities around the world.”

Pedigo comes to CGI after more than 8 years with AEG’s Global Partnerships division, serving as Senior Vice President of Partnership Sales, where he managed AEG’s Los Angeles based sports teams and played a lead role on a number of AEG venues.

Included in his portfolio were league-leading efforts for the LA Kings and LA Galaxy that saw significant sponsorship revenue increases during Pedigo’s time at the helm. He also played a significant role in the naming rights agreement with Farmers Insurance for the planned NFL stadium in downtown LA, which stands as the largest venue naming rights agreement ever signed.

“As the market leader of an expanding active lifestyle industry with world-class events and media assets, Competitor Group is in a unique position to capitalize on the increasing interest in health and wellness across every element of Corporate America,” said Pedigo. “I am excited to join the team and look forward to helping CGI realize its potential and gain momentum to reach the next level.”

Prior to joining AEG, Pedigo spent five seasons with the Los Angeles Angels in a similar capacity. His career in the sports business industry also includes four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he began as an intern in 1997.

Pedigo currently lives in Tustin Ranch, California, with his wife and family. He will be based at Competitor Group’s San Diego headquarters.

Headquartered in San Diego, Competitor Group is the active lifestyle industry’s leading media and event entertainment company. CGI’s portfolio of media assets span the full range of the expanding endurance industry and include a robust digital community on the web and on mobile across the Competitor Endurance Sports Network of websites.

Additionally, Raceit.com, a leading digital registration platform, is the catalyst for the company’s race services offering that looks to meet the needs not only for the company’s owned and operated events, but also for endurance events of all sizes on behalf of the entire industry.

CGI owns and operates 83 events around the world, including the flagship Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, the TriRock Triathlon Series, the NFL Run Series, Women’s Running Series and the REI Muddy Buddy Series, collectively delivering more than 600,000 professional and amateur participants in 2013.
