Spring Forward Duathlon returns to Oxfordshire in March

Never Second Sports Events has confirmed that the Spring Forward Duathlon is set to return to Banbury, Oxfordshire, UK, on Sunday 24 March 2013.

Now in its second year, the race is made up of a 5K run, 20K bike and 3K run and is pitched as the perfect introduction to the season – from the more experienced athlete looking to warm up for their big events later in the year, right through to those embarking upon their first season in the sport.

Both run courses are out and back routes following a track that was once the Oxfordshire Ironstone Railway- a standard gauge mineral railway, demolished in 1967. Being a largely flat route, with only a couple of small undulations, the event promises some strong run splits on the day.

The bike route follows a favourite time trial circuit enjoyed by local cycling clubs – meaning that it is also designed to be fast and competitive for those taking part. Closing with the shorter 3K run, an especially quick finish is expected from the stronger runners in the pack.

Brian Butler, Event Director for Never Second Sports Events said, “We are really looking forward to opening the 2013 season with the Spring Forward Duathlon. Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success and the feedback that we received was incredibly positive.”

Butler continued, “We are aware that there are going to be many athletes completing their very first duathlon and this means that the organising team will be on special hand to help out athletes throughout the day. We want to make everyone feel as welcome as possible.”

Entry is only £20 (£25 non British Triathlon (BTF) members).
