Those who are regulars on the UK triathlon circuit should be pretty familiar with the BeaverFest events. Comprising of ‘The Beaver’ (1.9K swim, 74K bike, 20K run), ‘The Little Beaver’ (1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run) and ‘The Speedy Beaver’. (750m swim, 20K bike, 5K run), the events regularly attract a who’s who in triathlon, with top names racing year-on-year for the coveted titles.
Organised by Just Racing UK, the Beaver event branding has certainly been original and will no doubt have raised a few eyebrows over the years. New for 2014, the team at Just Racing UK has confirmed that it will be rebranding the events and that they will now be referred to as the Belvoir Castle Triathlons, taking place on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May 2014.
The newly branded Belvoir Castle Triathlons in May are separate and distinct from the Castle Triathlon Series, which runs in the UK, Ireland and France.
Alan Rose, Just Racing UK Managing Director said, “We see the rebrand as a fundamental step in the development of the event. Calling it the ‘Belvoir Castle Triathlons’ far better aligns with the premium events that we deliver every year. We want to give the event a new identity, one that is more synonymous with the beautiful Belvoir Estate, in which we are happy to be hosting the event for the ninth year running.”
Alan continued, “The three courses will remain the same, and you can expect the same fun and electric atmosphere that you will have experienced racing there in previous years. There is a new kid’s event for those aged 8-16 taking place on the Saturday afternoon, and full camping facilities on site means it’s the perfect opportunity to make it a proper weekend away for all the family!
“We hope you can come back to join us in 2014 for a fabulous event in one of the most beautiful places in the UK.”
Pro triathlete Karl Alexander has taken part in the event many times. He said, “This is one my favourite races of the year. Belvoir Castle is a fabulous estate, all three events explore the scenic and undulating Leicestershire countryside, and the Just Racing UK team always make sure that everything runs incredibly smoothly. I can’t wait to come back next year and give it another go.”
The Belvoir Castle Middle Distance Triathlon takes place on Saturday 24 May and the Belvoir Castle Olympic and Sprint events take place on Sunday 25 May 2014.
