The Tough Mudder series of gruelling obstacle run events has a new long distance event in the pipeline… If 10-12 miles of regular Tough Mudder grit and obstacles are somehow not enough for obstacle racing enthusiasts, then the World’s Toughest Mudder 2013 – a gruelling 24-hour challenge designed to find the toughest man, woman, and 4-person team on the planet – is on its way.
World’s Toughest Mudder takes place on 16-17 November 2013 in Englishtown, New Jersey.
With an amped-up course, more prizes, and new qualification guidelines, it’s ‘more badass than ever’. Registration is now open – but, as the team at Tough Mudder point out, ‘don’t even think about signing up unless you’re physically and mentally prepared to be pushed beyond your limits.’
Competitors have 24 hours to log as many miles on an amped-up Tough Mudder course as they can. At the 24-hour mark, all competitors must complete the lap they are on and the winners will be whichever participants have completed the most full laps. In the event that multiple participants complete the winner’s total number of laps, the winners will be whichever participants cross the finish line of the final lap first.
Unlike other Tough Mudder events, the World’s Toughest Mudder is a competition with cash prizes and other awards up for grabs. The cash prize purse for the event is US$60,000 and Tough Mudder has made cash available to the top five men and women (and the top three teams).
The organising team point out that qualification for World’s Toughest Mudder 2013 is a pretty simple process… ‘If you’re crazy enough to think that 24 hours of torture sounds like fun, then you’re eligible. We’ll leave it up to the course to decide who the World’s Toughest Mudder is.’
