Trek Bicycle’s Project One custom bike program has ‘drastically increased the options available to riders around the world, while making custom bikes more accessible to a greater audience.’ With the addition of four new frame platforms and three new drivetrains, Trek’s Project One program is further expanding and reinventing what’s possible in the custom bike category.
The recently overhauled Madone 4 Series and Speed Concept 7 Series frames have been added to the offering, along with the Domane 4 Series and aluminum Fuel EX 29. The new, lower price point Fuel EX 29 frame is complemented by the addition of SRAM X0-1 and X9 drivetrains, as well as Shimano’s SLX drivetrain. New suspension forks and shocks from Fox round out the broad range of new features in Project One.
Lowering the ceiling
By bringing both frame and drivetrain options into more accessible price points, Project One is lowering the price of entry to a custom Trek by as much as US$1,800. Beyond selecting frames and components, Project One offers riders thousands of custom paint combinations, over a dozen wheelsets, handlebars, saddles and a variety of fit combinations.
This means more options for customers looking for their own build, their own fit, and their own style for how and where they ride. It also increases the flexibility of Trek’s high-end bike offering for Trek retailers, allowing shops to build out custom setups for their sales floor without having to do extra work in-house.
“This is a great step forward for customers to get exactly the bike they want, without the headaches of modifying their ride post-purchase,” said Trek’s Project One Manager Alexandra Delucenay. “More riders can now get the best bike for where and how they ride, and Trek retailers can offer vastly more bikes without having to keep more models in stock.”
