The XTERRA England 2014 Championship weekend, based in Cranleigh, Surrey, will open for 2014 entry on 18 September from 09:00 GMT. Following the debut of this championship multisport event in 2013, won by Australia’s Ben Allen and England’s Jacqui Slack, interest is high with the race expected to sell out quickly.
The race weekend has been set for the 23-24 August 2014, with the full race schedule to include the XTERRA England Championship triathlon, XTERRA Sprint Triathlon, XTERRA Super Sprint Women’s Only Race, XTERRA Warrior 10K/15K trail runs, plus 1,500m and 3,000m big swims.
The race weekend will be bigger than ever, with a Women’s Only Super Sprint triathlon and XTERRA Trail Run races added to the event schedule, alongside the Sprint and the XTERRA England Championship triathlon.
The televised, inaugural 2013 edition held on 8 September saw over 600 athletes compete across a range of races, with the XTERRA England Championship triathlon proving the highlight. Australia’s Ben Allen and England’s Jacqui Slack proved victorious over the 1.5K spring-fed lake swim, 30K off-road mountain bike course and 10K trail run.
In addition to the champions, 40 amateurs qualified for the XTERRA World Championships in Maui, Hawaii, whilst a further 400 would go on to achieve their own personal goals or charity aims by completing the tough and challenging course.
The organisers – Brave Events – note that the XTERRA England Championship weekend has all the ingredients to make it a ‘must do’ race for triathletes, runners and swimmers of all abilities, with world championship qualifying slots on offer, world class athletes in attendance, live music, an on-site restaurant and bar, pasta party and on-site camping. The 2013 champions Ben Allen and Jacqui Slack have already confirmed their return.
The event promises to be even bigger than 2013, with several new additions to the race schedule, including:

- XTERRA Super Sprint Women’s Only Triathlon (24 August)
- XTERRA Warriors 10km Trail Run (23 August)
- XTERRA Warriors 15km Trail Run (23 August)
- 1,500m Big Swim (24 August)
- 3,00m H2Open Water Series Big Swim (24 August)
All entrants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and every finisher receives a medal and complimentary food and drink, plus More Than Massage physio post-race care. There are 40 age-group slots for the world championships, held later in the year in Maui, Hawaii.
The event promises to offer something for everyone, with on-site camping within the Vachery Estate, an exhibitor’s area featuring the latest in triathlon gear and produce from local suppliers plus fun activities for all the family who will enjoy the great atmosphere and countryside whilst athletes get out and race.
Athletes and their families can enjoy a pasta-party in the evening before the race, which features live music and a pro question and answer session and even get fuelled up with the racers breakfast on race-day morning.
The Vachery Estate is located just outside the picturesque village of Cranleigh in the Surrey Hills, only minutes from London and the motorways, M25, M23 and M3.
