XTERRA tri legend Conrad Stoltz joins HOKA ONE ONE athlete team

HOKA ONE ONE, the ‘revolutionary oversized cushioned running shoe with engineered midsole geometry’ has a new addition to the HOKA ONE ONE athlete team – as XTERRA off-road triathlon legend Conrad ‘The Caveman’ Stoltz gets on board.

HOKA ONE ONE is a division of Deckers Outdoor Corporation – a global leader in designing, marketing and distributing innovative footwear, apparel and accessories for both everyday casual lifestyle use and high performance activities.

“We are extremely excited to bring an athlete of Conrad’s calibre into the HOKA ONE ONE family,” said Jim Van Dine, Brand President of HOKA ONE ONE. “He demands high performance products that will enable him to excel in the sport of triathlon. This is a good fit for our brand.”

A native South African, Stoltz is no stranger to the pro triathlon circuit. He has 22 years of professional triathlon experience, including being four-time XTERRA World Champion and 10 time USA Series Champion – the only athlete to hold that many titles – as well as also being a three-time International Triathlon Union (ITU) Cross Triathlon World Champion.

During the XTERRA Series, Stoltz earned his nickname ‘Caveman’ due to his large stature, standing at 6ft 3in and 183lb and his incredible speed during downhill sections of the mountain biking leg.

“I was unsponsored for the first 8 months of this year,” said Stoltz. “It was a blessing in disguise as I was able to seek some good advice and try various brands of running shoes. The first time I ran in HOKA ONE ONE, I knew I’d found something special.”

He continued, “I’m really excited about the shoes, the concept and especially about what I saw in the 2014 showroom! So here’s to more cushioning, more comfort, more traction and more XTERRA wins.”

HOKA ONE ONE was founded in 2009 by Jean-Luc Diard and Nicolas Mermoud. It was created to design shoes that offer improved performance primarily for ultrarunners. Deckers Outdoor Corp acquired the brand in late 2012 and is investing to broaden the product line to service all runners.

Due to HOKA ONE ONE’s unique ability to provide cushioning while still offering stability, the company notes that runners may greatly benefit from a product that is designed to reduce the amount of stress on their lower legs and body.

Deckers’s portfolio of brands is diverse and includes UGG Australia, Teva, Sanuk, TSUBO, Ahnu, MOZO and HOKA ONE ONE. Deckers Outdoor products are sold in more than 50 countries and territories through select department and specialty stores, 105 company-owned and operated retail stores, and select online stores, including company-owned websites.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of its founding in 2013, Deckers Outdoor has ‘a history of building niche footwear brands into lifestyle market leaders, attracting millions of loyal consumers globally.’
