With the historic and prestigious Windsor Triathlon celebrating its silver anniversary year in 2015, the event’s organiser, Human Race, has already opened entries for the big day. Next year’s race takes place on Sunday 14 June and places are rapidly being filled up.
Demand for spots on the start line has been expectedly high for the anniversary special. According to Human Race, this has been due to a fine combination of factors: the event’s unparalleled reputation within the sport; the sensational feedback from competitors following the 2014 event; the exciting celebratory plans for the 25th year; and the success of the priority booking window (which was available for anyone who had ever taken part in a previous running of the Windsor Triathlon).
Human Race is keen to ensure that everyone with interest in taking part next year should have the opportunity to do so. Therefore, with spare places disappearing so quickly, it was decided that it was only fair to let everyone know that over 50% of places have already been sold!
Set in the shadow of the splendid Windsor Castle, in the English county of Berkshire, the triathlon has traditionally sold out very early – with many triathletes keen to take up the opportunity to race on closed roads against ‘one of the most glorious triathlon backdrops in the world.’
Televised annually on Channel 4 and a part of the British Triathlon Super Series, the Windsor triathlon is also a spectator favourite, with elite and amateur athletes competing side-by-side and enjoying the full support of the knowledgeable crowd.
As part of the entry package, everyone who takes part in the 2015 edition of the race will get a special 25th anniversary t-shirt and commemorative medal, with further celebratory additions to the event set to be announced closer to the time.
Human Race also plans to reward people who have taken part in the Windsor Triathlon 10 or more times and who have been particularly instrumental in the event’s growth. To reward these stalwarts of the event, Human Race will be offering them a free commemorative polo shirt (which will also be on general sale via the Human Race shop) along with an invite to a celebratory lunch hosted at next year’s event.
