Leading sports nutrition company Science in Sport has launched a mobile version of the SiS website, giving its online customers the convenience of using an e-commerce site optimised for smartphones and tablets.
The launch of the mobile site (m.scienceinsport.com) follows the relaunch earlier this year of the company’s main website as part of a wider initiative to create an e-commerce platform integrated into the company’s manufacturing and supply facility in Lancashire.
As announced last month in a full year trading update, SiS’s direct e-commerce sales have been ‘growing very strongly, complementing the strong growth in the company’s other distribution channels including major grocers, high street retail chains, independent retailers, e-commerce retailers and international distributors.’
Stephen Moon, CEO of Science in Sport, said “It’s well known that the proportion of online shopping conducted on smartphones and tablets is growing very rapidly so we are excited by the launch of the mobile version of our website.
“The mobile site represents an important part of the development of our e-commerce platform and will be integral to our planned digital marketing initiatives. At the time of our fundraising last month, we stated our intention to use the proceeds to invest in revenue-generating opportunities of which our e-commerce platform is an excellent example.”
SiS was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in London. Its manufacturing and product development facility is in Nelson, Lancashire. SiS is currently the official sports nutrition supplier to professional cycling teams Rapha Condor JLT, Belkin Pro Cycling, Madison Genesis, Pro Team Astana, Team Katusha and Trek.
SiS is also currently the official supplier of sports drinks and sports nutrition to the GB Rowing Team. In addition, Olympians Sir Chris Hoy MBE, Mark Cavendish MBE and pro triathlete Helen Jenkins are Elite Sports Consultants and brand ambassadors.
