Challenge Almere-Amsterdam launches app

Obtaining information about the Challenge Almere-Amsterdam event, which takes place on 13 September 2014, is now easier with the newly launched Challenge Almere-Amsterdam app. The app contains the latest news around the event, with detail on swim/bike/run locations, timetable, etc.

The organisers note that participants’ race information will also soon be available via the app as well. Athletes can also enter the event via the app, and spectators will find information about how to reach the various hotspots to watch their favourite athlete perform. The Challenge Almere-Amsterdam app is available for download (for free) from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

“We try to meet the expectations of both athletes and visitors in our communications,” said Race Director Richard Belderok. “Smartphones form a significant part in communications nowadays. That is why we are already active on social media like Facebook and Twitter, but we did not have our own app yet.”

A missed opportunity, according to Davey Oliemans from Linden Mobile, who said “We cannot ignore the use of smartphones in sport any longer. All kinds of applications exist with training programmes, and the large tournaments all provide race results through apps. We have experience with creating applications for events, and it seemed interesting to us to help Challenge. With this app, you have all the information you need close at hand.”

Athletes can look up the most recent information for competitors. During the weekend of Challenge Almere-Amsterdam, the latest news and information about the accessibility of the city of Almere and the various hotspots will appear in the application. Furthermore, the race results will be published via the app.

In addition, the main event website will continue to provide extensive information about Challenge Almere-Amsterdam.
