Early bird takes flight at 2014 Alpe d’Huez Triathlon

After an expanded experience for athletes and spectators alike in July 2013, the early bird registration for the iconic 9th EDF Alpe d’Huez Triathlon, taking place in July 2014, is set to close at the end of February. The 2014 EDF Alpe d’Huez Triathlon will offer up a whole week of races and activities, taking place from 27-31 July 2014.

The triathlon festival in the Central French Alps aims to offer athletes ‘a rich program with official races, activities for all and an even fuller exhibition village.’ Overseas athletes will also be present in large numbers, as in previous years, in order to experience the unique suite of races designed in the outstanding Oisans Valley in France.

Registration for the early bird entry rates for the event close on 28 February. Thereafter, the popular event has a scaling up of entry fees at the end of May and then July:

The Alpe d’Huez Triathlon was originally founded by Cyrille Neveu – a former elite triathlete and member of the French National Triathlon Team from 1996 to 2008. Neveu now works as a consultant with major French TV station Canal+, on all triathlon coverage by the channel. He launched the first edition of the EDF Alpe d’Huez Triathlon in 2006 – and for the last five years he has been developing the event with international sports marketing group and major event organising firm IMG.
