Expanded partnership for Bonk Breaker as Official Nutrition Bar of USA Cycling

Bonk Breaker, creator of ‘freshly baked real food energy bars’, has announced a newly expanded partnership with USA Cycling. The relationship that launched in 2013 has been extended for a ‘multi-year term’ and includes substantial on-site activation at key USA Cycling events, exclusive USA Cycling member benefits and full nutritional support of Team USA.

“The strong partnership we’ve forged with USA Cycling has personal meaning to me as a long-time competitive cyclist,” said Bonk Breaker co-CEO & Chairman Chris Frank, a Cat 1 cyclist who has competed in USA Cycling events since 1986.

“But more importantly it provides us with a unique opportunity to supply quality sports nutrition to a broad-based athlete demographic and to support the healthy lifestyle that is synonymous with the Bonk Breaker brand.”

“USA Cycling connects with cyclists of all levels – from youth riders to masters competitors, from entry-level cyclists to some of the top professionals on the planet,” Jason Winn, Bonk Breaker co-CEO & founder explained. “They are the driving force behind the sport in this country, and we’re honoured to fuel the efforts of all the athletes they touch with delicious, real food Bonk Breaker bars.”

Steve Johnson, CEO and President of USA Cycling, praised the partnership as a perfect fit for USA Cycling’s athletes and programs. “As athletes themselves, the team behind the Bonk Breaker brand truly understands the need for quality nutrition,” said Johnson.

“Their products not only taste great, they’re crafted from premium real food ingredients. We couldn’t be happier to have Bonk Breaker on board as a partner in our quest to improve and expand the sport of cycling throughout the US.”

Bonk Breaker co-CEO & Chairman Chris Frank lauded USA Cycling’s expanded anti-doping efforts and new ‘Race Clean’ initiative as a compelling factor in solidifying the long-term partnership. “Our belief is that with proper nutrition, athletes can perform at extremely high levels,” he said.

“USA Cycling shares this belief and is committed to supporting clean competition. Our role as a nutrition partner is to provide great-tasting, real food fuel to help naturally optimize athletes’ peak performances.”

In addition to launching the newly formed Bonk Breaker Cycling Team, Bonk Breaker’s investment in cycling includes sponsorship of individual Olympic athletes Sarah Hammer and Dotsie Bausch – both silver medallists in London 2012 – the USA National Team, the Hincapie Development Team and numerous local cycling clubs across the United States.

The USA Cycling partnership extends to all USA Cycling members in offering exclusive member benefits and sports nutrition education, as well as opportunities for the public to experience Bonk Breaker first-hand at all 18 USA Cycling championship events and the Tour of America’s Dairyland.
