All starting places for next year’s DATEV Challenge Roth in Germany, which takes place on 12 July 2015, have once again sold out in record time.
Today, (Monday 28 July) the online registration process launched at 10:00 local time. The organizing team noted that the starting places had been grabbed in 34 seconds. Following completion of the booking process, in 54 seconds the event was fully booked for the available slots allocated to foreign athletes. After a further 1:10 minutes, all starting places for German athletes were snapped up.
So, in just over two minutes, all starting positions for DATEV Challenge Roth 2015 were awarded – confirming the continuing popularity of the event.
Previously a number of athletes had taken the opportunity to sign up in person for Roth 2015 at this year’s award ceremony on 21 July. This option, which athletes had preferred (as a result of an online vote in the spring), allocated places to 1,000 individual starters and 250 relay teams.
A statement from event organiser Team Challenge noted that it ‘deeply regrets that, because of the great rush and the overwhelming interest in the Roth Triathlon Festival, not all entry requests were met.’ The organisation continued to point out that ‘unfortunately, for reasons of safety and quality, capacity for DATEV Challenge Roth cannot be extended. Athletes who were not lucky this time in obtaining at starting place are recommended to consider other races in the global Challenge Family series.’
