Heading ‘down South’ Brownlee Tri Series expands in 2014

Following on from the success of the inaugural Brownlee Tri in 2013, elite triathletes Alistair and Jonny Brownlee have confirmed there will be two events in 2014 – ‘one up North and one down South’. Venue details will be revealed later in January and UK triathletes can register their interest at brownleetri.com.

While venue details are still to be confirmed, the dates for the two events have been set:

  • Brownlee Tri South – Sunday 15 June 2014
  • Brownlee Tri North – Sunday 21 September 2014

Last year, world-beating triathlete brothers Alistair and Jonny Brownlee partnered up with the National Trust to host their first ever triathlon in their native Yorkshire at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.

The ‘Brownlee Tri’ took place at the World Heritage Site on Saturday 21 September 2013. A super-sprint triathlon, started with a 400m swim in Studley Royal Lake; a 10K bike ride took competitors through the medieval deer park before culminating in a 2.5K run. The run went through Studley Royal water garden and the ruins of Fountains Abbey before finishing on the east green.

Presented by The National Trust, event partners in 2013 included: adidas, Maxifuel, Huub, 220 Triathlon, Tri247.com, marathon-photos.com, Yorkshire.com, Triathlon England and Professional Sports Group.
