Leading European sports nutrition player, Atlantic Multipower has confirmed the signing of 2008 Olympic triathlon champion Jan Frodeno. Frodeno, 32, now competes in Ironman 70.3 events and was fuelled by Multipower Sportsfood for the Accenture Ironman 70.3 Oceanside event in California this weekend.
(Setting the new sponsorship deal with Multipower off to a good start, Frodeno claimed victory at Oceanside and set a new course record in the process.)
Frodeno won Olympic gold in Beijing 2008 for Germany, moved up to the longer 70.3 Ironman distance last year and will target the full Ironman distance this summer. In July he’ll take on his first full-distance race at the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt – an anxiously awaited debut.
Frodeno said “70.3 Ironman is relatively new to me but I’ve enjoyed the step up in distance and am looking forward to the rest of the season with great anticipation. Sports nutrition is an essential part of my training and race day so I’m excited to be working closely with Multipower Sportsfood who has a fine heritage in endurance sport and produces the highest quality sports nutrition products.”
Frodeno joins Multipower Sportsfood’s illustrious team of endurance ambassadors that includes current ITU triathlon World Champion Javier Gómez Noya, Ironman European Champion Eneko Llanos and the Movistar and Cannondale professional cycling teams.
Multipower Marketing Director, Alex Schmelz said “We are delighted to be announcing Jan as the latest Multipower Sportsfood endurance ambassador and we will be working closely with him to develop a tailored sports nutrition package to ensure that he can compete to the very best of his ability. We wish him well for the rest of the season, welcome to the team Jan!”
He added, “Besides Jan being an exciting triathlete and one of the very best in the world he has always been extremely professional about his nutrition. Jan and our experts will be working very closely together to combine their knowledge and help improve the Multipower product portfolio to the ultimate benefit of all endurance athletes.”
