Leeds Triathlon attracting corporate teams and athletes of all levels

Xtra Mile Events is bringing triathlon action back to Leeds, UK, this summer with the Leeds Xpress Triathlon on 27 July and the Leeds Triathlon on 14 September. Both triathlons are popular and well-established events with triathletes of all levels signing up year after year.

The Leeds Triathlon also attracts a large number of corporate teams to the team relays, with the event recognised as ‘the perfect platform for employers to actively promote health and fitness in the work place whilst encouraging team spirit in the build up to the triathlon.’

The Leeds Xpress Triathlon on 27 July is based at the Grammar School at Leeds and consists of a 400m swim in the 6 lane heated indoor pool, a challenging 22.6K out and back cycle along the rolling, picturesque A61 and a 5.4K off-road run. This is seen as an ideal race for novices who want a challenge as well as experienced sprint distance enthusiasts. Entry fees for the Leeds Xpress Triathlon are £42 for individual entries and £65 for team entries, and event entry is open.

The Leeds Triathlon, which takes place on 14 September for the sixth time and offers both a sprint and a standard distance race, is widely renowned for ‘providing a top class triathlon experience for competitors and spectators alike’.

The standard distance race starts with a 1.5K open water swim in Waterloo Lake, followed by a scenic and fast 44K cycle leg and a 9K run in Roundhay Park. The sprint distance offers an easier alternative with a 750m swim, a 24K cycle and a 6.4K run. The Leeds Triathlon starts and finishes in Roundhay Park and always sees a lot of spectator and community support. Entry fees for the Leeds Triathlon are £62 for individual entries or £75 for team relay entries.

Race Director Simon Hill said “We are looking forward to bringing our well-established triathlons back to Leeds again in 2014, with the races having grown in both size and popularity over the last few years. Places for the Leeds Xpress Triathlon in July and the Leeds Triathlon in September are going fast, and anyone wishing to take part should sign up as soon as possible.”

He continued, “The Leeds Xpress Triathlon and the Leeds Triathlon are important races on the UK triathlon circuit, and both take place at fantastic venues for competitors and spectators. The Leeds Triathlon is also a great event for business teams to sign up to, with all companies who enter teams benefiting from exposure and free publicity at the event.”
