Quintana Roo (QR) has announced that it will sponsor Pittsburg-based professional triathlete Beth Shutt. The recently confirmed deal sees Shutt migrate from Cervélo bikes to the Quintana Roo brand.
“We’ve had our eye on Beth for a while, and when the opportunity came up, there was no hesitation that we wanted to work with her,” said Mac McEneaney, Director of North American Sales and Marketing for Quintana Roo.
“Over the past few years Beth has developed into a well-rounded triathlete, which not only means faster, but also in coaching, blogging and developing relationships with athletes online – it’s a big part of triathlon today. Beth’s become successful at it.”
QR will provide Beth with an Illicito triathlon bike, which will help strengthen her already impressive bike and run splits. This opportunity will continue to build upon QR’s relationship with the QT2 Systems triathlon team, for which QR is also a main sponsor.
“I am thrilled to be a part of the QR team,” said Beth. “Not only do they make amazing bikes that I’m beyond excited to train and race on, but QR also really takes care of and supports their athletes as if they were family. It’s going to be a great year!”
“This is a great chance for us to strengthen our ties with QT2,” said Peter Hurly, CEO of Quintana Roo. “Their athletes are already some of the best in the field, and we want them to have the best equipment available for training and racing.”
Coming off of a strong 2013 season – marked by a second-place finish at Ironman Wisconsin and a ninth-place finish at Ironman Arizona – Beth has already kicked off 2014 with a fourth-place finish at Ironman Los Cabos in March.
Beth Shutt, RD, LDN, CNSC, CSSD is the founder of The Athlete’s Eutrophia, a sports nutrition consulting business based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a professional triathlete, who combines these two backgrounds to provide customized nutrition planning specifically for athletes.
Quintana Roo was the first company to create a triathlon-specific wetsuit over 25 years ago, and then a tri-specific bike two years later. QR notes that it ‘remains the only company in the world wholly committed to triathlon by focusing solely on creating the best fitting and most aerodynamic, functional triathlon bikes in existence.’
