ASICS America has been named the Official Apparel Partner of the 2014 ITU World Triathlon Chicago, scheduled for 27-29 June 2014; and ASICS’ sponsorship also carries through to the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Chicago Grand Final.
As a Main Sponsor and Official Apparel Partner of ITU World Triathlon Chicago, ASICS will provide event shirts to each participant in the age-group races, including the sprint, Olympic-distance and relay events. ASICS will also supply items for event-branded ambassador kits.
Additionally, ASICS will support the event with volunteer, medical and swim safety t-shirts, as well as apparel for event staff and volunteer captains. Fleet Feet Sports Chicago will be the official retail partner for ASICS at the ITU World Triathlon Chicago expo.
Chicago will make its debut on the ITU World Triathlon Series circuit in June, becoming the third-ever US city to host an ITU World Triathlon Series race – joining San Diego (2012 and 2013) and Washington DC (2009) – and the first to host the ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final (in 2015) since the series was founded in 2009.
“ASICS was an integral part of last year’s Omegawave World Triathlon San Diego, so we are thrilled to bring ASICS on board again this year in Chicago,” said Franzi Petermann, Managing Director for ITU World Triathlon Chicago.
“Our goal is to host the best event possible, and we know ASICS will be an outstanding event partner for the 2014 event and the 2015 Grand Final.”
The ITU World Triathlon Chicago is produced by Lagardère Unlimited Events North America and USA Triathlon.
ASICS was founded more than 60 years ago by Kihachiro Onitsuka and is now a leading designer and manufacturer of performance athletic shoes, apparel and accessories.
The City of Chicago joins the ITU World Triathlon Series in 2014 and 2015, including the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final and Age Group World Championships. One of just eight series events around the globe in 2014, Chicago will welcome 130 of the world’s top Olympic-distance triathletes alongside such cities as Auckland, Cape Town, Yokohama, London, Hamburg, Stockholm and Edmonton.
In addition to the elite races, the event features top-flight Olympic- and sprint-distance age-group races, as well as two relay options, offering amateurs the chance to compete in the same epic venue as the world’s best athletes. Launched in 2009, and rebranded in 2011, the ITU World Triathlon Series is televised in more than 160 countries.
