With its cycle exchange concept born around a year ago, the online bike buying platform London Cycle Exchange started trading last summer. In time for the start of the 2014 cycling season, the team is ‘ready to spread our wings and have taken the decision to change our name to Road Cycle Exchange.’
As the newly named Road Cycle Exchange team points out, ‘We’ve been testing the model and now we know we can make it work we are ready to broaden our reach. Feedback from many of our customers has been “Why just London?”.’

Road Cycle Exchange is a platform for buying and selling pre-owned performance bicycles. The website aims to offer a worry-free and hassle-free experience that enables cyclists to trade bikes with fellow cycling enthusiasts.
To take the doubt away from buying a pre-owned bike, all transactions are with Road Cycle Exchange directly. The site ensures buyers know exactly what they are paying for – including the bike’s origin and history. All transactions are backed up by a Cycle Origin Guarantee providing assurance of provenance, security and mechanical worthiness. Any bikes found to be stolen will be given to the police.
All bikes featured on the Road Cycle Exchange website are subject to a full mechanical inspection by a Cycletech-accredited mechanic and covered by a three-month warranty.
For sellers, the process is quick and easy – with Road Cycle Exchange ensuring they get a fair price and their bike is collected free of charge. Road Cycle Exchange also provides an exchange service enabling cyclists to upgrade or change their bike on the platform too.
Following a partnership with the UK’s Bike2Work Scheme, Road Cycle Exchange is the first pre-owned performance bicycle operation on a cycle to work scheme.
Road Cycle Exchange is also continuing to partner with cycling retailers and cycle touring companies by offering ex-demo or tour bike purchasing and part exchange services. Road Cycle Exchange will purchase trade-ins so that the process of upgrading is simpler and cheaper for retailers and their customers.
