Nutrition and Omega 3 specialist Nordic Oil has announced its support for Ironman UK, Wales and Lanzarote Champion Lucy Gossage, who is the latest athlete to join the high performance team of Nordic Oil Ambassadors.
Frequently referred to as a real-life ‘Duracell Bunny’, Lucy has achieved some impressive race results over the past couple of years; most notably winning both Ironman UK and Ironman Wales in 2013 before going on to win Ironman Lanzarote earlier this year, an event which is regarded as one of the toughest on the global Ironman circuit.
Lucy joins an already impressive line-up of triathletes, who are already enjoying the benefits of Nordic Oil. Nordic Oil Ambassadors include, Chrissie Wellington MBE; 2013 Ironman 70.3 UK Champions, Eimear Mullan and Ritchie Nicholls; ‘Sportie Doc’ Tamsin Lewis; Dan Halksworth; and Nikki Bartlett.
And Lucy is not only a talented triathlete, but also a cancer doctor – and lively all-round character. Her friends refer to her as, ‘enthusiastic, energetic, loud, bonkers, bossy, gossip, driven, and competitive.’ As a professional triathlete, Lucy is adamant that she does not want to lose the ‘fun factor’, and this is perhaps a huge influence in her string of excellent performances.
Lucy is excited to be working with Nordic Oil, and she said, “As my triathlon career has progressed further than I ever imagined I am now using my ‘medical hat’ to look for marginal gains. I was until recently unaware of the strong evidence for a beneficial role for Omega 3 fatty acids on athletic performance, and particularly their anti-inflammatory effects.
“I actually came across the concept of Omega 3s from Michael Hutchinson’s book – I’m not really a fan of supplements but he suggested the evidence for these was good so I went away and had a look myself and was convinced!”
Lucy had previously seen and heard a lot about the Nordic Oil brand. She continued, “I was aware that Nordic Oil already sponsor some long distance triathletes, and so I contacted them straight away to find out more. I can’t wait to try out their Omega 3 range and am extremely excited to work with James and the rest of the team.”
James Slade, Founder of Nordic Oil said “We were absolutely over the moon when Lucy got in touch with us, and are truly honoured to have her on-board with us. We are delighted to support some of the best names in the sport of triathlon – from Commonwealth to Ironman World Championship athletes and we are attracting some of the fastest names in the sport.
“Lucy is a real force to be reckoned with on the ladies field, and we look forward to seeing what else she has in store!”
Nordic Oil was founded in 2010 by James Slade who was ‘frustrated by the low quality of many Omega 3 supplements found on the high street.’ With an extensive knowledge of the healthcare industry and experience as a chiropractor, James was in a good position to develop and launch Nordic Oil as the premium supplement brand that it is today.
Nordic Oil aims to supply top quality products made from the best ingredients, at an affordable and competitive price. The oil is produced from carefully selected fish sources from deep, clear waters, including sardines, anchovies, and mackerel, species that are characterized by especially low levels of environmental impurities. Nordic Oil is produced at the state-of-the-art production facilities in Northern Europe.
The Nordic Oil range includes two primary products; High Grade Omega 3 Oil and High Grade Omega 3 Capsules. Both are of a premium quality, as they are ‘sourced from the purest ingredients and are refined, filtered and distilled to ensure the seal of excellence.’
