Mark Allen’s The Art of Competition wins USA Best Book Award

The Art of Competition, by Mark Allen with photographer Nick Borelli (Grip Press, 2014), has been named the winner in the Sports category of the 11th annual USA Best Book Awards – as well as a finalist for Best Cover Design: Non-Fiction.

Entrants included more than 2000 titles released in 2012-2014 by mainstream and independent book publishers.

The Art of Competition features a collection of 90 thought-provoking and inspiring quotes by Mark Allen, six-time Hawaii Ironman World Champion, coach, award-winning author, and motivational speaker. Each quote is overlaid upon a two-page landscape that provides perspective to personal challenges and endeavours.

While The Art of Competition conveys impactful lessons about sport, the lessons extend far beyond – to one’s personal and professional journeys as well. The quotes and the messages are borne of the wisdom of Mark Allen’s 25 years of reflection on his first and subsequent Ironman World Championships.

Mark Allen will be signing copies of his award-winning book on Thursday 20 November from 18:30 to 20:30 PT at the Sports Basement at 610 Old Mason Street in San Francisco, California.

The Art of Competition may be ordered online directly from the publisher (art-of-competition.com) or through book retailers.

10% of all profits from the sale of The Art of Competition are being donated to The Huichol Foundation, an international charity dedicated to preserving the life and traditions of the Huichol Indians of Central Mexico.
