Ironman brand owner World Triathlon Corp (WTC) has confirmed Mercedes-Benz as the Official Car Partner of the Ironman European Tour for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. With its involvement in the leading European long-distance triathlon series, the premium automotive brand aims to extend its presence across the endurance sport community.
A short 23 second teaser video clip heralds the joining up of Mercedes-Benz and Ironman in Europe – with a focus on the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, the new version of which was revealed earlier this year in Munich.
The V-Class replaces the Viano in Mercedes’ line-up and aims to revolutionise the world of vans, with a focus on luxury and convenience. The eight-seater vehicle features high-quality materials throughout, such as matt-finish wooden trims and Nappa leather upholstery, and optional surround sound.
This gives the V-class an upmarket feel – and plenty of space to store bikes and an array of triathlon gear.
“Ironman and Mercedes-Benz make a perfect and powerful combination,” said Thomas Dieckhoff, Chief Executive Officer of Ironman Europe, Middle East & Africa.
“Both brands are renowned for their firm belief in passion, quality and determination to provide their customers with a great experience. We are confident that Ironman is the perfect platform to present the new V-Class and are happy to welcome Mercedes-Benz as a major partner of our races and our flagship event in Frankfurt.”
