UK mass participation events organiser Limelight Sports has unveiled its latest event concept, Race the World. Billed as… ‘Unlike anything we’ve ever presented to you before, Race the World is a global challenge, driven and inspired by our constant amazement of people’s desire to challenge themselves physically and mentally.’
Race the World is positioned as the first round the world cycling race for amateurs and, ‘with a commitment to training, is achievable to anyone who is willing to take on a physical challenge.’ According to Limelight Sports, Race the World offers up a simple idea and a chance to make history.
A release from Limelight said… ‘It is more than an adventure: it is an opportunity to challenge yourself on a route unlike any other. Unlike other challenges available, we wanted to provide participants with the opportunity to undertake this race fully supported.’
Taking in Europe, Central Asia, East Asia, Australia and the United States, Limelight aims to make this truly unique experience possible for cyclists of all abilities. Each leg lasts two weeks, and is fully supported: no bags; no panniers; no carrying equipment. ‘Just you on your bike, with your team.’
Riders have the chance to sign up for as many of the five continental legs of the race as they choose. Whether they take on one or five legs, each leg will contribute to the team’s collective round the world effort.
For a limited time only, Limelight is offering riders the chance to Race the World for £4,950 per leg if riders pay in full on entry. This offers a saving of £3,000 off the full price of £7,950 per leg. An alternative (to the not insignificant entry fee) is to pay in instalments for a discounted total of £6,950.
Additional discounts are available for those taking on multi-legs or the full round the world race. Entry includes a bike, which riders will keep, and the team kit.
