Skechers runs again with the London Triathlon and Blenheim

Skechers Performance Division, an award-winning global leader in the performance footwear industry, has re-signed as the official footwear sponsor of the London Triathlon and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon for the next two years.

Following two successful years associated with the UK’s leading triathlon events, Skechers Performance Division will remain the official footwear sponsor until 2016, continuing its exposure within the triathlon market.

Produced by Challenger World/IMG, The London Triathlon is billed as ‘the world’s biggest triathlon event’, with over 13,000 participants and 30,000 spectators. The Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon, known as the season opener and best event for first-timers, is the UK’s second largest triathlon with over 7,000 participants.

The Skechers Performance Division develops and produces an extensive collection of technologically advanced and dynamic performance footwear. The Skechers GOrun line has received awards and accolades for innovation from running media around the globe and the support of elite athletes, including top marathon runner Meb Keflezighi.

James Robinson, IMG Challenger World Managing Director said “Working with an inspirational, international brand like Skechers Performance Division has enhanced our events, specifically the expertise and focus put onto the run leg of the triathlons, including, product advice and tips for participants.

“We have enjoyed a successful partnership with the Skechers Performance Division for the last two years and we are thrilled to be continuing the partnership.”

Commenting on the agreement, Skechers UK & Ireland MD Pete Youell said “We are very excited about the partnership with Blenheim and London Triathlon for 2014 and 2015. The partnership cements our continued commitment to the performance category and is ideally suited for our long-term Skechers Performance Division strategy.”

He continued, “The past 2 years have seen the Skechers Performance Division go from strength to strength, winning multiple product awards and accolades as well as changing hearts and minds along the way. With an ever growing elite and aspirant following we look forward to continued success in the world of performance running.”

Places are still available in the Triathlon Plus mixed sprint waves at the 2014 Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research Blenheim Palace Triathlon. These waves will be the first of each day so they’re ideal for club triathletes looking to crack their sprint distance personal best. It’s seen as the perfect opportunity to take on club mates, training partners and rivals whilst the course is quiet.

Places are also still available for the 2014 London Triathlon, but with over 85% of places sold out and several wave types already full, participants are advised to enter as soon as possible to avoid missing out on what will be another fantastic year for the world’s largest triathlon.
