The Surrey Human Performance Institute at Surrey Sports Park, UK, is running the second instalment of its triathlon training camps starting on 31 January and running to 2 February. This time round, the camp focuses on pre-season training with each athlete leaving with a dedicated and bespoke plan to take them through to the start of the triathlon season.
The two day, pre-season camp will be tailored to each athlete as they receive the ‘gold’ standard of performance testing, VO2max tests in both cycling and running and a critical swim speed assessment.
Armed with this data, the team of sports scientists based at Surrey Human Performance Institute will be able to create a bespoke training plan for each athlete to take away and use in the run up to this year’s triathlon season.
By popular demand this round of triathlon camps will include swim coaching to improve swim technique as this is ‘an area where a lot of triathletes would benefit.’
Surrey Sports Park has played host to a number of international triathlon training camps including the USA, Mexico, Costa Rica and Ecuador ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games and more recently teams from Australia and the USA before the 2013 PruHealth World Triathlon Grand Final in Hyde Park, London.
Over the tri camp weekend, athletes will also get to attend education sessions from experts in their fields including sweat analysis experts Precision Hydration; Optimum Health sports therapy; and Joe Wainwright, who will talk about sleep and its effects on rest and recovery – a key part of any athlete’s training.
