2014 TransCanada World Triathlon Grand Final in Edmonton wins sports award

The Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance Awarded the 2015 PRESTIGE Awards this week. The winners in eight categories of the 2015 PRESTIGE Award were celebrated at the 2015 Sports Events Congress in Toronto. (PRESTIGE stands for ‘Program Recognizing Exception Sport Tourism Initiatives, Games and Events’.)

During the PRESTIGE awards ceremony, the 2014 TransCanada World Triathlon Grand Final in Edmonton was awarded the CSTA International Sport Event of the Year Award.

The TransCanada Corp sponsored World Triathlon Grand Final in Edmonton, Canada, took place from 26 August through to 1 September 2014. From short to standard distances, young to ‘mature’ age groups, corporate to elite level competition, the TransCanada ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Edmonton had something to offer everyone. During race week, athletes, families and friends descended on the Alberta city to prepare for the final showdown of ITU racing in 2014.

During the event, the triathlon world was focused on Edmonton for six days, as more than 3,000 athletes and 6,000 visitors descend on Edmonton for the 2014 Grand Final.

The Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance is a member driven, tourism industry led organization that promotes sport tourism as a key economic development initiative at the community level. The CSTA services over 300 members across Canada, including 140 municipalities, 150 national/provincial sport, multisport and major games organizations and a variety of other national and provincial sport and tourism industry partners.
