The 2015 IRONMAN 70.3 Princeton event, which was due to take place this September in New Jersey, has been cancelled – due to difficulties experienced in obtaining the necessary approvals on the bike course from local authorities. The confirmation was sent out to athletes this week….
2015 IRONMAN 70.3 Princeton Cancelled
We regret to inform you that the 2015 IRONMAN 70.3 Princeton triathlon will not take place this September. IRONMAN is responsible for securing a race course which meets the high standards of our brand and provides our athletes an unparalleled race experience. Race courses must also be approved by the local authorities. Unfortunately, after numerous attempts, we were not granted the necessary approvals for the bike course.
We appreciate your dedication and understand your disappointment with not being able to race in Princeton; registration is still available for several nearby IRONMAN 70.3 triathlons, including:

The inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Princeton triathlon in New Jersey took place on Sunday 21 September 2014. At the outset, the event was seen as a key race in the IRONMAN 70.3 US Series. During the event unveiling in December 2013, Andrew Messick, CEO of IRONMAN said “We’re excited to be able to bring Ironman back to the tri-state area, and particularly to Princeton.”
At the time, he also added, “Princeton and its surrounding area have a long and established history in triathlon and endurance sports, and we think this event will provide participants with one of the most scenic and challenging courses anywhere in North America.”
The future of the event remains unclear; but, as outlined above, IRONMAN is currently focusing on the base of athletes who expected to race IRONMAN 70.3 Princeton in 2015 and it is offering alternative registration for a number of M-Dot events on the east coast.
