Specialist endurance sport TV production company Dream Team Television has confirmed that Challenge Bahrain will air on mainstream television in the UK. On air this Sunday 18 January at 06.40 GMT on Channel 4, or Channel 4 +1 at 07.40, the coverage continues a raft of triathlon and endurance sport programming on the channel. Coverage of Challenge Bahrain will also show on Sky Sports and British Eurosport.
The sold-out Challenge Bahrain is billed as the richest triathlon in the world, with a US$500,000 prize purse. The middle-distance race, now part of the Challenge Triple Crown Series, attracts the cream of ITU shorter distance triathletes to compete against the best iron-distance athletes.
The point-to-point course is designed to take athletes on a journey through Bahrain’s history, from the high tech future to the roots of this ancient civilization dating back 4,000 years. The course includes a swim in the calm waters of Bahrain Bay; cycling past the Grand Mosque and a lap of the Bahrain International F1 Circuit.
The run leg is particularly unique, traversing through the heart of a wild life park, with the athletes coming into close-quarters with the animals, before crossing the finish line at the F1 complex.
