The gates at Albrecht Dürer Nuremberg-Airport are now welcoming triathletes and fans to the action at this year’s DATEV Challenge Roth in Germany.
The ‘welcome to the action’ displays at Nuremberg airport are showcasing the DATEV Challenge Roth event, which takes place on 12 July. With innovative, large-format 3D installations and images – passengers arriving in Nuremberg will be made fully aware of this year’s event.
Athletes from 62 nations with their families are expected to descend on Roth next week. They will be ‘welcomed by thousands of spectators and fans at the biggest long-distance triathlon in the world.’
Albrecht Dürer Nuremberg-Airport serves Bavaria in southern Germany and will serve to greet all visitors with Franconian hospitality. The Challenge Roth promotion at the airport runs from now until 19 July. Before and behind the security gates at Nuremberg airport are two oversized race gates that have been constructed as replicas of the original finish area in Rother Triathlon Park.
All travellers, including the visiting international triathlon community, will therefore get to experience the Challenge Roth finish line at the airport.
In addition, DATEV Challenge Roth is visually presented on three rotating baggage carousels in the arrivals area of the airport.
Here 3D visuals of a swimmer, cyclist and runner, representing the three sporting disciplines of triathlon, are on show. The optical effect is completed by two ‘Coloramas’, which are 8m wide and 2m high.
Via the displays, travellers are also informed of the ‘Your Photo Challenge’ Challenge Roth Facebook campaign, which invites the public to show a victory pose snapshot recorded under any archway, anywhere in the world. The campaign is offering prizes such as free airline tickets to any destination in Europe and other valuable prizes.
The idea behind the photo campaign is to anchor DATEV Challenge Roth as the biggest one-day sporting event in Bavaria and the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region.

The goal is to present all incoming and departing world-class athletes, spectators and fans with a welcoming triathlon destination in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region.
