The final lineup of pro athletes taking part in this year’s ETU European Long Distance Championships, hosted by Challenge Weymouth has been revealed and features a number of previous champions including Stephen Bayliss (GBR), Petr Vabrousek (CZE) and Yvette Grice (GBR).
Challenge UK returns to Weymouth on 13 September 2015 to play host to the ETU European Long Distance Championships.
Challenge Family’s UK event organizer Just Racing UK, together with British Triathlon, have partnered up with The Weymouth Bid and Weymouth & Portland Borough Council to enable international media coverage of Challenge Weymouth 2015. The event will be produced in a one hour TV program, which will be broadcast via Channel 4, Sky Sports and Eurosport.
The race starts with a 2 lap 3.8K open water sea swim in Weymouth Bay. Then athletes will head out on a rolling 180K bike course weaving through the local Dorset countryside offering competitors a fast and smooth cycling event, taking in the beautiful surrounding terrain with views of the famous Jurassic Coastline.
To finish, athletes will take on a four lapped 42.2K run along the Esplanade and through the historic town incorporating a ‘beer mile’, which, once again, will no doubt be bustling with support from family, friends and loved ones, making for a spectator friendly end to a picturesque iron distance triathlon.
Alan Rose, Race Director said, “We are looking forward to our fifth year of Challenge UK, and the second year of Challenge Weymouth and hosting the ETU Long Distance European Championships. We have formed extremely close relationships with the local Weymouth community and appreciate the many volunteers who are supporting the event in numerous ways. We hope that friends and families of the athletes enjoy the day as much as the athletes themselves.”
Friends/family will be able to follow the athletes’ progress via a live feed on challengeweymouth.com, which will be live on race day only.
