Organised by UK multisport event management company, Raceways Events, the Avenger is one of a number of middle distance triathlons to hit the UK in recent years. Originally unveiled in 2013, the event is set in the stunning grounds of Ragley Hall right in the heart of England, and takes place on quiet roads and paths.
This year, the Avenger has an expanded offering with Sprint and Olympic distances on offer. The organisers add that all profits from the events are donated to a local charity.
The organisers note that, with the event taking place this coming weekend, there are a limited number of spots available for Raceways’ Avenger Triathlon events, with entries closing today (Wednesday 17 June) at 17:00 BST.
The third installment of the event takes place this Sunday 21 June 2015. Located just outside Alcester in Warwickshire, the events all start and finish in the historical and picturesque grounds of Ragley Hall. In 2015, there are ‘race distances for everyone’, with middle, Olympic and sprint events on offer – as well as a 10K run for those who prefer single discipline events.
A full line up of the Avenger triathlon events is as follows:
- The Avenger Middle – 1.9K swim, 90K bike, 20K run
- The Avenger Olympic – 1.3K swim, 51K bike, 10K run
- The Avenger Sprint – 660m swim, 22K bike, 5K run
Raceways Marketing and Events Manager, Joanna Welch said, “We are really looking forward to hosting the Avenger events on Sunday, especially with the addition of the Sprint and Olympic events, which are brand new for this year. All profits from the events are donated straight to our local charity too, Kids Run Free. The team there are inspirational, and work hard to ignite a passion for sport in children by providing them with free regular sporting opportunities. There is quite simply no better cause to race for.”
Competitors will also be able to enjoy a brand new run course this year, featuring previously unseen views of the Ragley Estate and further woodland paths. And there are some strong athletes taking part, with GB athlete Sam Parker heading up the Olympic event and several strong ladies in the Middle distance, including last year’s winner and The Beaver Triathlon 2015 champion, Emilie Verroken and local athlete Emma Bexson.
Raceways Events set up the charity Kids Run Free to get more children active and passionate about sport. Every weekend there are hundreds of children running at Kids Run Free events across the Midlands.
