Performance sunglasses specialist Rudy Project has unveiled the latest edition to its 2016 collection: the Tralyx and Tralyx SX. According to the company, this simple and dynamic design platform takes Rudy Project a step forward into the future, while building upon 30 years of technical innovation in the performance eyewear industry.
“We heard the demand from our athletes for an elegant, functional, uber light-weight shield with unreal coverage and we delivered,” said Paul Craig, President and Co-founder of Rudy Project North Americt2a.
He continued, “We’re always growing, refining, and making our equipment better in every possible way. Rudy’s techno-geometric shield sunglasses have been a hit for years, so we incorporated classic design features such as full adjustability and enhanced anti-fog qualities with feedback from our pros.
“The result is one of the coolest sunglasses I’ve ever seen. It’s lightweight, functional, customizable and above all, simply beautiful. Hats off to our design engineers!”
The Tralyx features new Rudy Project technologies, including the company’s PowerFlow system, which combines ‘an unobstructed field of peripheral vision with an unparalleled heat dissipation solution.’ Vents are positioned throughout the entire chassis of the sunglass to enhance air circulation, while ensuring maximum aerodynamic efficiency and vision.
This is alsot the first sunglass to showcase new Adaptive Tips, which ‘ensure superior comfort and a precise fit on any face shape.’ Thanks to a flexible copper-beryllium core, the front portions of these temple tips are adjusted for maximum security on the face.
The rear portions naturally flex when positioned behind the ears or when inserted into a Rudy Project helmet dock or traditional helmet vents, eliminating irritation on the rider’s skull. Combined with the latest fully adjustable nosepiece technology, the Ergonose IX, the Tralyx aims to set the bar for eyewear comfort technology.
Additionally, the Tralyx incorporates Rudy Project’s Quick Change Interchangeable Lens System, which allows the user to change lenses to help manage for varying light conditions. For the rider who prefers the same lens for all-day use, the Tralyx is available with Rudy Project’s ‘Award Winning, unbreakable photochromic ImpactX-2 lenses.’
Rudy Project adds that the All-Around lenses (Clear to Black and Clear to Laser Black) are engineered for variable weather and will perform in any terrain and climate, making the Tralyx the ‘ultimate eyewear solution for any race or training endeavor.’ Two other photochromic ImpactX-2 lenses (Clear to Red and Clear to Brown), along with Multilaser Orange, Clear and Smoke lenses round out the lens line-up for the Tralyx.
The Tralyx made its debut during the 2015 Tour de France, where riders from LottoNL-Jumbo, Astana, EuropCar, Bora-Argon 18, IAM, and Cofidis had the opportunity to test the sunglasses for the first time. Rudy Project also received feedback from pro triathletes such as Yvonne van Vlerken, who showcased the Tralyx as she won Challenge Roth 2015, and Pedro Gomes, who offered his hands-on reaction to the final design.
“As a triathlete, I ride my TT bike quite often so I’m also often riding on an aero, more tucked position with my head down,” Pedro Gomes shared. “The biggest feature of the Tralyx, in my honest opinion, is the fact that the top of the frame doesn’t bother the top of your peripheral vision as most sunglasses out there do. I believe the fact that the nose piece is a little lower and the design of the lens insertion on the top of the frame is what makes it happen.”
For those with smaller faces where large shield-style sunglasses are typically too large, the Tralyx will also be offered in the Tralyx SX model with a shorter lens profile.
The 2016 Tralyx & Tralyx SX are available at e-rudy.com or any authorized dealer.
