FFTRI showcases French triathlon to the media

The French Federation of Triathlon (FFTRI) is today, Wednesday 20 May, organizing a press conference to showcase triathlon. Starting at 09:30 CET the event is an opportunity for the mainstream and specialist media to meet athletes and glean information about France’s Olympic and Paralympic triathlon preparation.

Workshops are scheduled for journalists:

Workshop 1

  • Presentation of research work conducted with the INSEP on the performance of high level athletes
  • Presentation of tests and physiological assessments made by high-level FFTRI triathletes
  • Application of these tests in the training and preparation for international competitions
  • Assessment of athlete evaluations carried out since 2006
  • Unveiling of current research projects to come from the collaboration between FFTRI and INSEP

INSEP, Institut national du sport et de l’éducation physique, the National Institute of Sport and Physical Education is a French teacher training institute and a centre for excellence in sports that trains elite athletes. It is located on the outskirts of Paris.

Workshop 1 will be moderated by: Anael Aubry – PhD student at INSEP; Benjamin Maze – Deputy National Technical Director in charge of France Teams; and will feature triathletes Audrey Merle, Vincent Luis and Dorian Coninx.

Workshop 2

  • This session addresses the technological advances on equipment and hardware in triathlon
  • It will involve a presentation of the triathlon features of triathlon specific equipment (e.g. bikes)
  • There will be an overview of major technological developments
  • The presentation will address the philosophy relating to paratriathlètes within FFTRI

Workshop 2 will be led by Nicolas Becker – Natonal Triathlon Coach; with the participation of paratriathletes Elise Marc, Yannick Bourseaux and Stéphane Bahier.

Workshop 3

  • The psychological and behavioural aspects of the preparation of the high-level athletes
  • The session will address, athlete guidance, behavioural aspects, personality; how to identify constraints and psychological triggers in order benefit triathlon performance

The workshop will be moderated by Jerome Drouard – Responsible for the athletes’ mental and psychological support at FFTRI; Jacques FRADIN – Research Director at the Laboratory of IME (Institute of Environmental Medicine). This session will have also participation from athletes, Emmie Charayron and Raphael Montoya.

The day will conclude with the presentation of the 2015 triathlon season and the preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
