Three new videos from the land of Sufferlandria are now available, as the team at Sufferfest has confirmed the release of: base training video, To Get To the Other Side (TGTTOS); Do As You’re Told (DAYT) for speed training; and The Best Thing in the World (TBTITW), which contains ‘two aggressive race simulations’.
In addition to the new training content, the Sufferfest team is gearing up to ‘launch an incredible new app’ this December. Through the new app, Sufferfest customers will have streaming access to all Sufferfest videos and will be able to store them locally too.
More importantly, users will be able to connect to power, heart rate and other devices so they can train according to specific targets and then record, save and share workouts. In January, Sufferfest will release Windows desktop, Mac desktop and Android apps as well.
As a Sufferfest spokesperson added, ‘We’re really, really excited about this – it will take your suffering to a completely different level.’
The three new Sufferfest videos form an autumn/fall new collection of suffering – with race, speed and base training workouts. As part of the initial launch, for a limited time period, the three videos are priced as a bundle at US$28.99 – representing a saving of 27% on the list price of US$39.97.
To Get To the Other Side (TGTTOS)
Created in collaboration with The Col Collective, this 90 minute video takes riders on a sweeping and dramatic tour through Italy’s Dolomite Mountains. Following cycling legend Mike Cotty, TGTTOS features varying efforts and cadences and, aside from a couple of brief leg-openers, riders will spend the entire workout just below threshold, making it suited for base building or ‘easy’ rides.
Do As You’re Told (DAYT)
More typical of the attack, aggression and pain themes that often come through Sufferfest videos, DAYT features short intervals to develop speed. Here, riders take on 22 intervals. The first set is matching intervals, with efforts matching recoveries. The second set features inverse intervals, with opposite efforts and recoveries. As the Sufferfest team notes, ‘It’s an incredible session to develop explosive, maximum power.’
The Best Thing in the World (TBTITW)
The blurb surrounding TBTITW sets out the premise behind this race simulation training video… ‘You’re a Sufferlandrian. The only thing you love as much as Suffering is making others Suffer. So what could possibly be better than being in a race full of other Sufferlandrians? How about two races full of Sufferlandrians! Over the course of two 13:30 minute race simulations, you’ll prove that you’re not the Couchlandrian that some suspect you are, while fighting for glory.’
Positioned as being absolutely essential for anyone racing criteriums or cyclocross, TBTITW is developing high-end power, recovery and mental strength at the end of a scrappy, aggressive race or killer group ride.
The Sufferfest produces cycling, triathlon and running workout videos. Videos feature footage from the world’s greatest races such as the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, Diamond League Track & Field and UCI World Championships.
The videos, with workouts typically based on low-volume/high intensity intervals, are positioned as being perfect for time-crunched athletes looking for maximum results. With over 25 videos in its library, and a worldwide following of Sufferlandrians, the Sufferfest ‘continues to raise the bar on a world of pain for training!’
