HITS Endurance has announced that its HITS Austin multisport event will return to Circuit of the Americas (COTA) on Sunday 20 December 2015. Now in its third year and continuing to offer ‘a distance for everyone’, HITS is projecting the largest race yet.
Courses at HITS Austin highlight the iconic race track at COTA, which also hosted the X Games earlier this month. All race distances will run on sections of the roadway and finish at Pit Row. Additionally, Sprint Duathlon competitors will return to the track during the bike portion of the race for a ‘chance to feel the thrill of wheels on the famed pavement.’
“Circuit of The Americas is home to the US Formula 1 Grand Prix, and the chance to compete in any sort of sport on the same track that F1 World Champions race on is not something to be missed,” said Tom Webb, Senior Director of Motorsport Marketing and Communications at COTA.
Registration for HITS Austin, Texas, is now open at HITSRunning.com and offers a Friends & Family Mile, as well as a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon and Sprint Duathlon. Athletes interested in racing are encouraged to take advantage of the early bird pricing that is in affect through to 19 November.
“You rarely get a chance to ride your bike on a Formula 1 / MotoGP racetrack,” said 2014 Sprint Duathlon Overall Winner Stefan Rothe. “This course is made for speed.”
“I have considered myself an athlete for as long as I can remember and the challenge at the HITS Duathlon COTA race was a great opportunity to push my limits,” added 2014 Sprint Duathlon Female Winner Haley Koop. “The course is a racers dream and it is great for all athletes, at any level.”
All distances at HITS Austin are certified by USATF, and the Marathon is an official Boston Marathon Qualifier.
The organizers add that the event will feature a sizable health, wellness and fitness expo uniquely dedicated to the promotion of fit and healthy lifestyles. Racers, spectators, family and friends are welcome to attend.
In 2013, HITS unveiled its umbrella company, HITS Endurance, which organizes all HITS Triathlon Series, as well as HITS Running Festivals.
