World Triathlon Corp’s Iron Girl announced today that it has partnered with Verizon Wireless as title sponsor for the Iron Girl Clearwater Half Marathon, 5K and Wellness Weekend.
Last year more than 3,900 female athletes participated in the 12th year of the event. This year, the inaugural Wellness Weekend will kick off the Iron Girl event weekend in Clearwater and will include a variety of interactive sessions promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, nutritional food options and giveaways throughout the day.
‘The wellness sessions offered will connect women with information and services beyond individual fitness goals.’
“Iron Girl is proud to partner with Verizon Wireless, a great community supporter of women’s initiatives,” said Michelle Sabo, Director of Sales and Marketing for Iron Girl. “This year we decided to expand our popular event series with the addition of the Wellness Weekend, focusing on the overall well-being of females. We are thrilled to have Verizon, who has similar goals, on board.”
Since its launch in 2004, Iron Girl has ‘grown exponentially and gained popularity’ throughout the US. In the past decade, the women’s event series has expanded its types of races to include 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons and sprint triathlons.
“Verizon is a company fully dedicated to serving our communities,” said Colleen Kurtz, Verizon Wireless Marketing Manager. “We’re excited to support Iron Girl Clearwater and this great effort to help local women of all ages be active, healthy and happy.”
