OTILLO swim-run racing lands in the UK

Swim briefing at Votwo event

UK multisport event organizer Votwo has confirmed that it is the UK provider for the official OTILLO Training Sprint Series. OTILLO swim-run races are an expanding new race format that originated in Sweden. The name OTILLO means ‘island to island’ racing.

There are three races in the inaugural UK series, which are to be held at Eton Dorney rowing lake. Each race is 13.6K in total distance involving 6 runs and 6 swims. Competitors are required to race in pairs and stay together throughout the race. Teams can be male, female or mixed.

Teams will need to run in their wetsuit and swim in their trainers. Swimming toys are permitted to assist i.e. fins, paddles or pull buoys.

Votwo’s very own Eliot Challifour and Andy Blow finished eighth at the 2014 World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden, in a race that covered 75K. They loved the experience so much that they have brought it back to the UK!

The winning team in the male/female/mixed category for the UK OTILLO Training Sprint Series will win a free entry to an OTILLO World Championship qualifier race.

The team at Votwo adds that OTILLO swim-run is a great racing format, but also a fantastic training format for triathlon. The entry cost is £40 per team, per event. Dates are: 14 June, 19 July and 27 September.
