From a team who are making waves across the pro-cycling scene this year, MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung mechanic Klas Johansson has won the first ever World Bike Packing Championship, organized by bike bag/box specialist Scicon.
The Swedish mechanic competed against 8 other mechanics from other pro cycling teams. He secured victory with an incredible time of 3:13 minutes, which was a full 14 seconds faster than James Griffin from Cannondale-Garmin who placed second. He was closely followed by Sebastian Nittke from the Women’s team Velocio-SRAM.
The competition’s objective was simple: each team mechanic packs the Scicon AeroComfort 2.0 TSA in the fastest time possible. There were a set of simple rules that each mechanic had to follow.
The individual videos of each mechanic’s attempt to get the fastest time were released one by one throughout the Tour De France. Klas Johansson’s winning attempt is below:
To celebrate Klas’ victory and the success of MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung at this year’s Tour De France, as part of a competition, Scicon is going to be giving away a Team Edition AeroComfort 2.0 TSA and a jersey & cap signed by the team next week.
