Living LEGEND: new long distance tri is born

Competitor on The Legend course

Always Aim High Events has launched what is arguably ‘the UK’s toughest and most stunning single-lap iron distance triathlon – the LEGEND.’

This week, the Welsh event specialists have unveiled the new LEGEND triathlon, which will take place on Sunday 10 July 2016 and is Always Aim High Event’s newest and without doubt toughest triathlon challenge.

What makes this event stand out is not just the rugged nature of the course but the fact that it is strictly a single-lap event. The event will also be fully supported and will feature a family orientated festival of triathlon – making it ‘one of the friendliest extreme triathlons in the world’.

Pre-registration is now open for the LEGEND Triathlon and due to the fact that there are only 750 places available in the first year, interested athletes are advised to reserve a place. Not only that, but anyone who pre-registers will be able to buy their entry with a 10% discount – a saving of £25.

Always Aim High Events Director Tim Lloyd is delighted to add another high profile event to his company’s portfolio. “The LEGEND is the ultimate endurance triathlon,” he said. “It’s got everything really – stunning single lap routes, exemplary race support, an unbeatable location and of course a few hills thrown in for good measure This is quite simply the most beautiful triathlon challenge on the planet. So if you want to become a legend then pre-register on the event website now.”

The route is breathtaking in every sense of the word. The 2.4 mile swim will take place in ‘Snowdon’s lake’ – Llyn Padarn. Llyn Padarn is also home to the Slateman triathlon and is famous for its clean, clear waters and its highly accredited bathing status.

The cycle leg takes in 112 exclusive miles of ‘mind-blowing scenery, flawless tarmac and of course a number of iconic climbs.’ The bike course takes in much of the same route as Always Aim High’s infamous Etape Eryri cycle sportive. This is a route that cycle supremo himself, Sir Dave Brailsford described as ‘out of this world’.

Finally, the run stage comprises a full-length mixed terrain marathon set in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. The route takes in key climbs such as Bwlch maesgwm, en-y-Pass and the infamous Dinorwig Quarries.

According to Always Aim High, the LEGEND promises to deliver in all areas and is undoubtedly soon to become another classic from the company’s stable.
