Countdown to sold-out, inaugural Challenge Salou

PortAventura Challenge Salou

Originally unveiled last summer, the countdown to the sold out PortAventura Challenge Salou is now underway. This weekend, on 31 May, more than 1,500 athletes will race in the inaugural Challenge Salou event, in Spain, the only Challenge Family event on the Spanish peninsula. Billed as a true festival of sport, the event has a flagship half distance race together with Short Challenge, Aqua Challenge, Junior Challenge and Breakfast Run.

Running near to the PortAventura theme park and resort south of Barcelona, in Salou, Tarragona, Spain – the event on the Costa Dorada is well-positioned as a family destination. With 20% of participants from outside Spain, Challenge Salou will bring together professionals and age group athletes from all over the world to compete over this fast, flat course.

Salou is home to some of the greatest beaches in Spain. The bike course is a flat, single loop, ‘perfect for a personal best’. Transition, the run course and finish line are on the seafront promenade, lined with palm trees. Families can also enjoy nearby PortAventura, one of Spain’s largest theme parks ‘offering unforgettable experiences for athletes, spectators, friends and family alike.’
