British Triathlon has this week opened its new Windsor Duathlon for general entries. The new multisport event is set to take place on 3 April 2016 and will be held within the impressive setting of Windsor Great Park close to London.
Entries to the Windsor Duathlon are limited to just 1,000 places across mass participation sprint, standard and relay events. Entry for Home Nations members has been open since 1 October and with over 55% of entries already sold the race organisers are expecting a sell-out.
The early bird entry window is open until 31 October 2015 at windsorduathlon.com.
The event will host five British Championships across every level of the sport including age-group, elite and paraduathlon championships. Windsor Duathlon will also act as the last of three qualification events for aspirant Great Britain Age-Group Team athletes looking to compete in the 2016 ITU Standard Distance Duathlon World Championships.
Newcomers to the sport will also be well catered for with sprint (5K run, 20K bike, 2.5K run), standard (10K run, 40K bike, 5K run) and relay (5K run, 20K bike, 2.5K run) events available for those looking to get their first taste of duathlon racing.
Windsor Great Park is part of The Crown Estate, an independent commercial business which pays its profits to the UK Treasury for the benefit of the nation’s finances. The 5,000 acre park is much used for recreational sporting activity and offers an extensive network of private roads that will create a course, set among historic landmarks including The Long Walk, The Copper Horse, The Jubilee Statue, Prince Consort Statue, and The Savill Garden, not to mention Windsor Castle as an eye-catching backdrop.
