The Triathlon Expo – in tandem with the Swim Expo, Bike Expo and Run Expo – is opening up with its first triathlon trade day on Friday 20 March at Manchester’s EventCity. Previously known as The Bike & Triathlon Show, the trade day has a range of trade-only exclusive special offers, and the main consumer-focused expo will also be welcoming 2013 ITU Triathlon World Champion Non Stanford.
A visit to Tri Expo’s trade day, on Friday 20 March, is free for those working in the triathlon industry and will include:
- Exclusive trade-only deals for the triathlon industry
- A programme of seminars and workshops
- Previews of the latest products and kit for the upcoming season
- The chance to talk to other triathlon industry professionals while enjoying a drink in Tri Expo’s trade bar
- Inspiring talks from some of triathlon’s biggest names
Inspirational triathlete Non Stanford will take to the stage to answer questions and talk about her achievements. In addition, the trade day will also be hosting a meeting of the Triathlon Industry Association (TIA) board, taking place at midday GMT.
The trade day kicks off the three-day Triathlon Expo, which runs alongside Swim Expo, Run Expo and Bike Expo. At the heart of Tri Expo will be the Tri Stage, which will host an extensive programme of seminars and workshops, with practical advice on technique, nutrition, hydration, fitness and recovery from some of the top triathlon and endurance coaches in the UK.
The organizers have kindly set up a free ticket code TRB0215 for triathlonbusiness.com readers – entering this code on the triexpo.co.uk site will allow free entry throughout the show. (Standard tickets are £12 when pre-booked online.)
For those who fancy getting involved in activities taking place during the event, there will be plenty going on including a sprint contest, an adrenalin-fuelled cycling speed challenge and the chance to try out triathlon in the Dry Tri zone. This incorporates some of the basic principles of triathlons as a taster for young and old, with some prizes on offer from Zoot, which is sponsoring this part of the event.
There will also be top sporting names providing inspiration and advice. So far, the organizers have confirmed swimmers Becky Adlington and Mark Foster, athletes Jo Pavey and Steve Cram and cyclists Rebecca Romero and Dani King, with more to be announced in the run up to the show.
A number of top brand bikes and wetsuits will be on show and there will be everything from running shoes, compression wear and goggles right through to nutrition foods, energy drinks and a whole host of other performance accessories. As well as a showcase of all the latest products and innovations that are so essential to triathlon participants, whether beginners or experts, Triathlon England will be on hand with training advice for all.
Visitors can get practical advice on hydration and recovery techniques as well as swimming performance analysis in the endless pools and there will be fashion shows unveiling the latest race and training apparel.
The programme of workshops will include:
- How to improve performance through sweat analysis from Precision Hydration
- Nutrition advice from Science Fitness
- Top triathlete Joe Beer from FX Fitness will deliver a masterclass
- ARC Carbon Wheels will be revealing its triathlon team
- A top ultra runner will give essential advice for anyone considering an extreme challenge

More workshops will be announced in the coming weeks.
