Triathlon Business International (TBI) has today announced that founding member Jack Caress will step down from his position as President as of 24 January 2016 at TBI’s 6th annual North American Conference in Marina del Rey, California.
Caress intends to focus his time on the boards of the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games and the Los Angeles Sports Council. Los Angeles has been named as the United States Olympic Committee candidate for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Jack will also be refocusing his energy on new projects with his event production and consulting firm, Pacific Sports.
“We thank Jack for his service to the organization and his passion for the sport of triathlon,” said TBI Board officers Peter Hurley and Richard Adler in a joint statement. “He assumed the responsibility as President of TBI when the organization was formed by a group of triathlon industry veterans who wanted to advance the sport, and has been our leader in its growth.
“On behalf of our shareholders we are deeply appreciative of his efforts.”
Triathlon Business International was founded by a coalition of industry leaders who saw the need for the triathlon business community to come together in an organization dedicated to promoting the sport and the business of triathlon.
Initially named Triathlon America at its launch in 2010, the name was changed to Triathlon Business International (TBI) in 2012 to ‘reflect the increasingly global growth of the sport and industry members.’
TBI’s annual January conference has become the major gathering of industry leaders, and the organization has developed important partnerships and initiatives since its inception, including the highly successful TBI Pavilion at Interbike and a ground-breaking market research study of the US triathlon community.
“It has been an honour to lead TBI since its founding,” said Caress. “After six years at the helm, I believe it’s time for a new and fresh vision for TBI, and I look forward to working with my successor and being an active member of the Board of Directors.”
A new President will be elected at the Board of Directors meeting held in conjunction with the annual conference in January, and Caress’ successor will be announced at that time.
Triathlon Business International is dedicated to promoting the sport and business of triathlon.
