Derby-based professional cycling team Team Raleigh has been recruited by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to help prepare his team of 100 fundraisers for their next triathlon challenge.
Team Raleigh, led by Derby champion cyclist Cherie Pridham, will be supporting Gordon Ramsay and his team of 100 amateur triathletes through their practice ride on a 56 mile cycling route around Lichfield, Burton-on-Trent, and Cannock Chase in March.
This is ahead of the GR100 team competing in the IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire triathlon on 14 June 2015, which will also include a 1.2 mile swim in Chasewater and a 13.1 mile run at Shugborough country estate near Lichfield.
Cherie Pridham is one of the only woman managers of a men’s UCI Continental pro cycling team and has ridden the Women’s Tour De France eight times. She has taken Derby’s Team Raleigh to be one of the top continental teams with over 110 podiums this year.
She said “The members of GR100 are all motivated individuals, but not necessarily highly experienced cyclists, so we have been recruited to support the team in their training for the IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire Triathlon. It is a huge honour to be invited by Gordon Ramsay to help support his team and the Gordon Ramsay Foundation.
“Our involvement also further strengthens the ties between his Foundation and this area as GR100 is also sponsored by Derby-based HUUB, with the kit provided to all the members including a triathlon wetsuit designed by the company.”
