Kent-based British cycling brand, VO2 Cycling, has been named the official cycle partner with the Castle Triathlon Series for two of the series’ biggest and most iconic triathlons in the UK.
The Castle Triathlon Series team note that Hever Castle Triathlon is now the second biggest mass-participation triathlon in the UK. The event takes place out of the historic Kent-castle across the weekend of 26-27 September 2015. The event attracts record breaking numbers and in recent years has ‘consecutively broken the world record for holding the biggest childrens triathlon.’
In 2015 this trend is set to continue and thousands of participants are expected to take part in one of the multitude of distances on offer with first timers through to professional triathletes taking part.
The Bastion also takes place at Hever Castle, earlier in the year, on 12 July 2015 and is one of the newest races on the Castle Triathlon Series circuit. The event has already established itself as one of the toughest one-day challenges in the world. Seasoned triathletes will take on the iconic long distance: covering a 3.8K swim, 180K bike course and 42K marathon run all withing a time limit of 17 hours.
Over 7,000 athletes are expected to take part across both events in July and September – with the bike course in particular being a stunning and iconic challenge as the route winds through the Weald’s ‘area of outstanding natural beauty’, including many challenging climbs and twists and turns.
VO2 Cycling will be the official cycle partners and will be offering competitors training advice, cycling support, mechanical support, retail advice, bike fits and training days in the build-up to both events.
Owner and Chief Mechanic of VO2 Cycling, Jimmy George, said “We are really excited to be partnering with these two huge events for Kent and the UK. With our headquarters in Hildenborough being close to the course we know all about the challenges the athletes will face on the day, especially the bike section and we are looking forward to helping them achieve their triathlon dream and finish with a huge smile on their face.”
He added, “This begins with a special VO2 Cycling Training Day for The Bastion iron-distance triathlon on the 17th May and all competitors are welcome to attend. We will do a course recce and give you special advice about how best to challenge the course as well as provide on-the-day mechanical support.”
