UK based bike manufacturer Ribble Cycles has announced the availability of its latest, and ‘most versatile bike to date’, the CGR. The new Ribble CGR has been named because of its ability to tackle all surfaces and conditions – Cross, Gravel and Road.
Ribble’s CGR frame uses a lightweight 7005 aluminium tube set. The tubes have been hydro formed, which, according to the company, not only helps to deliver a clean modern look, but to also optimise weld areas in critical areas such as the bottom bracket shell to improve power delivery and robustness. The tapered arcing top tube provides additional comfort to the bike allowing slight flex to reduce vibrations.
Comfort is further assisted by the frame’s compact geometry, which permits riders to run with more seat post – ‘delivering additional flex to reduce vibration without compromising on the frame’s lateral stiffness’.
The CGR’s generous tyre clearance helps boost the versatility of this do-all bike. With space for tyres up to 35mm, there is ample room to run 28c tyres with guards, ‘making the perfect winter ride’. Simply swapping tyres across to a cyclocross tread transforms this bike into a gravel road explorer. Thus, the bike is positioned as being ideal for weekend adventures over bridleways or even for varied commutes that take on a mix of paved and unpaved routes.
The CGR is equipped with both rack eyelets and mudguard eyes on the frame and fork. The CGR’s bright neon yellow colourway has the added benefit of helping to keep riders seen in heavy traffic or out on the open road, further boosting the appeal of the CGR to those looking for those looking for a commuter companion.
Braking on the CGR is taken care of by disc brakes for ‘all weather braking reliability’. The CGR is available with either hydraulic or mechanical disc brakes. Ribble adds that hydraulic disc brakes provide a lighter feel that’s easier to modulate and control.
The CGR will be available for purchase as a complete build from £799. The complete build features full Shimano Sora Drivetrain, Rodi Airline Evo Sealed bearing Disc Clincher, Deda Finishing Kit and Mudguards.
