Specialist multisport retailer TriSports.com recently welcomed the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Latin American Interior Designers, Engineers, and Architects Committee (LA IDEA) to tour its facility and sustainability practices.

The groups were made up of architects, engineers and chemists from Mexico, Peru, Chile and Colombia. The groups were interested in ‘better understanding sustainable business practices and the facility design needs to integrate green operations into business.’

TriSports revealed the many ways it implements conservation through various programs in place, such as the commuter and recycling programs, water harvesting and solar units at the facility, and the building design features that enable further conservation in order to reduce the organization’s carbon footprint.

The Tucson Hispanic Chamber is the largest Latino business organization in the State of Arizona and one of the top ten Hispanic Chambers in the nation. LA IDEA is the leading collective of Latin American design professionals in the Washington DC area, fostering professional development.

TriSports is enthusiastic to ‘promote sustainable business practices throughout the community in order to demonstrate the ease of conservation adoption and the added benefits to corporations through cost-savings, while reducing carbon emissions.’

TriSports’ Vice-President, Debbie Claggett, directed the tour for the groups. She said “TriSports is thrilled to have architects and engineers involved in learning and incorporating sustainable features into their designs. While our mission is to employ sustainability throughout our business, we hope to educate as many organizations and individuals on ways to lessen their carbon footprint.

“I am honoured that LA IDEA and the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce visited, their members are contributing to their communities through a proactive approach to understand how to integrate sustainable features, as many corporations will be operating this way in the future.”

Based in Tucscon, Arizona, TriSports.com is a premiere triathlon, swim, bike and run retailer. The company began out of the home of Seton and Debbie Claggett in April 2000. Sixteen years and two moves later, TriSports.com occupies 32,000 square feet of retail, warehouse and office space.

The company is devoted to the industry’s development through participation as a founding member of Triathlon Business International (TBI).

The company is also committed to maintaining an environmentally-friendly business and is actively involved in the local Arizona community, as well as global charities.
